    Total Harmonic Distortion is the most widely used measurement of waveform distortion.  There are two versions of this measurement that can be used.

    • THDF (THD-F or simply THD) – total harmonic distortion referred to the fundamental component.
    • THDR (THD-R) – total harmonic distortion referred to the RMS value.

    In both cases, THD is expressed as a percentage.
